The Making of a Young Visionary
Dhanashree Mandhani, the driving force behind Salam Kisan, began her entrepreneurial journey while pursuing a degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Finance and Marketing. Drawing inspiration from her father and grandfather who were both businessmen, Dhanashree learnt the ropes of running a business from an early age.

Founded in 2022 by Dhanashri Mandhani, Salam Kisan is an end-to-end agritech startup, which offers services like drone-based soil testing, produce procurement, and marketplace offerings, to the farmers. The company represents a new generation of agritech solutions designed specifically for Indian farming conditions.
As a bootstrapped startup, Salam Kisan kick-started its journey with a preliminary investment of $2 Mn. It today has a user base of more than 160,000 farmers across 35 districts. The platform provides comprehensive support through its innovative approach to modern farming.
Pioneering Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture
One of Mandhani’s most groundbreaking achievements has been training and hiring the first female drone pilot in agriculture in Maharashtra. Last year in September Linta Shelke Waghmare became Maharashtra’s first female drone pilot. The news was hailed as an indicator of women’s foray into traditionally male-dominated sectors.
