In a dimly lit room in Mexico City during a pandemic lockdown, Vaibhav Sisinty posted a simple LinkedIn question asking if anyone would pay for a course on how he gained 15,000 followers. That single post would spark the creation of GrowthSchool, an EdTech platform that has since empowered over one million learners and achieved a staggering 400% year-on-year revenue growth. Today, Vaibhav Sisinty stands as one of India’s most influential figures in the EdTech space, transforming how professionals acquire real-world skills in an industry worth billions.
Born in Berhampur, Orissa in 1993, Vaibhav Sisinty’s journey began with profound personal tragedy when his beloved mother passed away during his fourth grade. This devastating loss marked the beginning of a tumultuous academic period where he struggled with traditional education systems. In his tenth grade, he failed in seven subjects and scored less than 30% in his pre-board exams, with his school threatening to bar him from taking final exams.
However, this low point became his turning point. After his father offered him an alternative to quit education and run an internet shop, Vaibhav decided to give academics one final attempt, ultimately scoring 77% in his ICSE board exams – a remarkable transformation that nobody expected.
Vaibhav pursued Computer Science Engineering at the Institute of Technology and Management in Visakhapatnam, though it wasn’t the prestigious IIT he had initially aspired to attend. During his second year of engineering, he co-founded CrazyHeads, a digital media agency, with three friends. The company’s breakthrough moment came when they organized an ethical hacking workshop, selling 450 tickets at ₹1,000 each within two months, despite colleges shutting down due to the Andhra-Telangana separation just three days before the event. The workshop ultimately attracted 750 attendees and became a resounding success.
Within 18 months, CrazyHeads served over 100 clients, enabling Vaibhav to clear his education loan before graduation. The company won the “Fast Emerging Digital Media Startup of the Year” award, establishing Vaibhav as a formidable force in digital marketing.
In 2015, Vaibhav joined Uber as a city coordinator, where he was promoted to Marketing Manager within just one and a half years at age 23. His role involved helping Uber scale operations in unexplored Indian markets and increase brand visibility. Working alongside graduates from prestigious institutions like IIT, he realized that university prestige doesn’t determine career success.
After four and a half years at Uber, where he helped scale the business from 100 trips to 1 million trips weekly, Vaibhav was set to relocate to Mexico City. However, when this transfer was cancelled at the last moment, he decided to leave Uber and join Klook, a travel technology company, as Head of Marketing. At Klook India, he helped the company achieve a $27 million annual business, demonstrating his exceptional ability to drive growth across different markets and industries.
Throughout his corporate journey, Vaibhav maintained his entrepreneurial spirit. He provided marketing consultancy to over 60 startups, helping them find new customers and grow exponentially through growth hacking at half the budget of traditional digital marketing. His expertise in LinkedIn marketing became particularly renowned, leading to features in prominent publications including Entrepreneur, KillerStartups, BuzzFeed, and The Hindu.
The COVID-19 pandemic created the perfect storm for Vaibhav’s most ambitious venture yet. In July 2020, amid India’s lockdown, he revisited his LinkedIn workshop concept, and by September that year, he had quit his job at Klook to launch GrowthSchool. The platform was built on a simple yet powerful thesis: “People want to learn from people who they want to become”.
GrowthSchool initially operated as a bootstrapped company with just six team members, remaining in stealth mode while serving close to 200,000 users. The platform’s unique approach focused on bridging the gap between academic curriculum and industry requirements through community-led cohort programs taught by industry experts.
In January 2022, GrowthSchool raised a $5 million seed round led by Sequoia Capital India and Owl Ventures, with over 80 angel investors participating, including notable entrepreneurs like Kunal Shah, Nikhil Kamath, Ritesh Agarwal, and international figures like Austen Allred and Shaan Puri.
GrowthSchool’s growth trajectory has been nothing short of extraordinary. The platform has achieved a staggering 400% year-on-year growth since inception, reaching a peak monthly revenue of ₹5 crores and empowering over 1 million learners. Current annual revenue stands at $2.69 million as of March 2023, with the company employing 125 people as of February 2025.
The platform’s innovation extends beyond traditional EdTech approaches. GrowthSchool has become the first Indian company in its domain to integrate Generative AI across all learning streams, positioning itself at the forefront of AI-powered education. The company has pioneered new categories in the Indian market, including Performance Marketing, No-Code, Web3, Management Consulting, and Generative AI – sectors that previously had limited educational presence in India.
GrowthSchool already generates 10% of its revenue from international learners and plans formal expansion into North America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East in 2024. The platform offers courses across diverse domains including UI/UX design, performance marketing, freelancing, NFT creation, cryptocurrency investment, and D2C business development.
Recognition has followed success. LinkedIn named GrowthSchool among the Top Startups to watch, and the platform was recognized among the Top 20 Companies on the Rise. The company’s stringent mentor vetting process ensures that only the top 1% of industry experts deliver courses, maintaining quality while scaling rapidly.
Vaibhav’s mission transcends profit margins. He has stated his commitment to making “continuous learning and development even more affordable than Netflix”, recognizing that monetary limitations prevent many talented individuals from upskilling. This vision led to the launch of ‘Outskill,’ a platform designed to maximize empowerment for job seekers worldwide.
GrowthSchool aims to upskill 2.5 million learners by 2024 and achieve a $1 million monthly run rate. The platform’s unique value proposition lies in its ability to identify upskilling gaps in India and create impactful learning opportunities using cutting-edge digital tools.
The company has also garnered significant interest from existing investors for its upcoming Series A funding round, indicating continued confidence in its growth trajectory and market potential.
Under Vaibhav Sisinty’s leadership, GrowthSchool continues to evolve and expand its EdTech offerings. The platform’s current focus on generative AI integration positions it uniquely in the competitive landscape, where traditional players often struggle with outdated curriculum and theoretical approaches.
Despite the broader EdTech sector experiencing funding challenges and layoffs, GrowthSchool’s team has tripled to 150 employees, demonstrating remarkable resilience and growth in a challenging market environment.
Vaibhav’s personal brand has grown alongside his company’s success, with hundreds of thousands of followers across social platforms who look to him for insights on growth marketing, career development, and entrepreneurship. His story from academic failure to EdTech success resonates particularly strongly with India’s youth, proving that traditional educational pedigree doesn’t determine professional outcomes.
Vaibhav Sisinty founded GrowthSchool with the mission of helping people get the best skill upgradation from top professionals in the industry over the shortest period of time. His vision of creating a go-to platform for learners worldwide to acquire skills from the top 1% of industry experts has not only materialized but exceeded expectations. Through GrowthSchool, Vaibhav Sisinty has demonstrated that EdTech innovation lies not just in technology, but in reimagining how practical, industry-relevant skills can be democratically accessed by aspiring professionals across the globe.
